Why timing matters

Annual PV generation alone does not show how much electricity is used directly. The hourly or interval match between production and demand determines self-consumption and grid exports.

Heat as storage

A buffer tank, floor heating and building thermal mass can store heat. Within comfort and technical limits, a heat pump can operate more during solar production and less when the facility would import expensive electricity.

Integrated control

A useful strategy considers forecasts, required temperatures, heat-pump efficiency, other facility loads, grid limits and electricity prices. The objective is a technically safe schedule, not simply switching equipment on whenever the sun shines.
